Coffee is brewing. Sun is beaming through the big picture windows. The Pacific Ocean crashing on the beach nearby. It’s a beautiful and bright morning. Barely awake, I mumble, “Alexa, start my day. “
I’m sure if you have one of these devices (Alexa) you know the many conveniences it provides it’s owners. You can play games on it. Connect it to your devices like your thermostat and TV to turn on/off. You can set up routines, sync your work calendar, and even order your groceries. It’s all voice-activated. Now that is something! I expected in 2020 that we would be driving around in digital spaceships, but this works too.
What if we started off our day like this with the Holy Spirit? Simple idea really. Holy Spirit, start my day. If I could imagine, the Holy Spirit would begin with a report of your attitude. He would give you the rundown of your emotions, your motivations and your spiritual temperature.
Then he would fill you in on the current status of good news in your life. He would fill you with comfort, joy, and peace. He might end the good news with a question like “What are you thankful for today?”
He would end with some worship time and scripture readings for your day. He would ask you to examine your heart as you study the word and lean into His presence. As your making breakfast you would find yourself caught up in a moment that starts your day just right.
In truth, I have done nothing alone. God has called me and has been my pilot. The Holy Spirit has been my comforter, my guide, and my power source.

It’s simple. We can voice activate and call out to the Holy Spirit to start our day. Our words have the power to speak life and joy with the help of the Spirit. I encourage you to call out to Him. Activate His comfort, healing, and guidance. It’s all in your voice. Holy Spirit, start my day.
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:26
