You, Lord, are my lamp;
the Lord turns my darkness into light.
30 With your help I can advance against a troop;
with my God I can scale a wall. 2 Samuel 22: 29-30
Darkness seems to be covering our worlds as a heavy cloud. Just looking through the constant feed on my Facebook I’ve seen countless perspectives on the darkest subjects that can leave us wondering what will happen next? How much more can we take? People leaving this Earth too early, babies having no choice whether to live or die, suicidal and depressing cry outs, and bad choices creating a spirit of heaviness and defeat causes our lamps to grow dim. We start to wonder if we should believe in this too? Since everyone seems to be tuning into the darkness, it feels like that could give us a hope. A hope that at-least we have someone on our side.
David, a man after God’s own heart knew darkness. He knew fear! He knew loneliness. He knew weariness. He also knew victory!
His victory was in his words! Lord, you are my LAMP! The focus of our lives has to get back on the Lord, Jesus! He is our lamp. Each time we overcrowd our lives with tones of darkness we dim the light that was mean’t to overcome the darkness!
What is causing you to dim? What are you focused on?
Take just a few minutes and write down the answers to these! Include your favorite meal with this fun journal topic. For me, I would choose a lemonade and salad. Get that focus on Him! Once you do, the light will overcome the darkness and you will be able to peer into the brightness of love and joy that awaits!
In other words, TURN THE DANG LIGHTS ON! Then you can advance a troop and scale a wall all on God’s light bill!
“Give light and people will find the way.”
