Matthew 7:24-27 (MSG)
These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit – but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.
But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.
To be a disciple of Jesus, to believe in the stuff that matters you must build your house (your life) on Jesus (the Rock).
Many times in our lives we want to take short cuts when it comes to things in life. Everyone loves a short cut, we live in a microwave society, where everything is now!
But to build a FIRM foundation on Jesus Christ, a relationship with Jesus that is UNSHAKEABLE you cannot take the short cuts to success, shortcuts to relationships, the short cuts to your purpose. You actually have to dig awhile and keep digging in that relationship with Jesus so that you can build a house (a life) that will not waver when the storms of life come, when the tide and waves start beating you down.
You must put work into being UNSHAKEABLE for Jesus.
Build your house on the ROCK OF JESUS, not your parents or kids faith, not your social life, not your past experiences, not your hurt or pain, not your talents or skills, not even on your own self. Those things are like the sandy beaches…they will be washed away with every storm in your life.
Faith is not believing in my own Unshakeable Belief, faith is believing in an UNSHAKEABLE GOD.
We all have our own opinions, beliefs and feelings about life, but the only thing that will actually withstand and not waver is your unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ. You cannot waver when it comes to building your house on Jesus.
Jeremiah 7:8 (MSG) They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit.
P L A N T Y O U R S E L F
Get planted, rooted and grounded into the living, breathing Word of God. Again there is not a short cut, if you want the nice house that glorifies and is rich in great blessings you must be faithful in your roots and build your house on the UNSHAKEABLE FAITH IN GOD.
That means no person can change the way you love the Lord, the way you worship, the way you spend intimate time with the Father, the way you trust Him. No not one can change your relationship with God, because your faith is planted, rooted and grounded in the Unshakeable faith.
Your house is standing and producing fruit.
So Rock or Sand? What is your faith built on?
Reflect today, examine yourself, your faith, and your fruit your producing. If you see fruit that is UnGodly then ask the Lord to forgive you, share with Him your concerns…and kneel in his presence. Ask him to restore your faith. Then stand in the storms of your life with an Unshakeable knowing that you will build your house on the Rock of Jesus from here on out. Don’t give up. Don’t waver. Don’t walk away. Instead build your house on the Rock of Jesus Christ, one brick at a time.
