That White Dress!

Raven Cannon logoThis weekend me and Matt (my husband), went to dinner. Matt excused himself to the restroom. I waited on him for a good while, and I kinda got a little worried for him. When he finally came back to sit down, his face was red and he began to tell the story of what had just happened. That evening as he was leaving the restroom, he saw a lady in a white dress and from behind she looked like me. So he slid in across from her at her table, and he was looking down, until he looked up and realized at that very moment that she wasn’t his wife. As I’m hysterically laughing at him at this restaurant, Matt was floored with embarrassment. And if you know him he is kinda hard to embarrass. He proclaimed it as his most embarrassing moment.

The facts are that this moment was unintentional, he wasn’t paying good enough attention to the location of his table, the people around him etc. In our lives, we walk around everyday doing routine things, and before long we realize that we can’t remember who just walked by our desk, what we ate for lunch, what our boss said in that meeting, or if you are like me you don’t even remember driving to work.

We become lost in our thoughts and in our routines daily that we unintentionally do not pay attention to the smallest things.

Small things contribute to the Big things in life. I want to encourage you today, to step out of your routine and take a refresh of at least 10 minutes to think about some of the little things (joy living) in your life. Encourage yourself with thinking about what your kids said to you this morning before you left for work, be encouraged by the little things that are contributing to the big things in your life. Sometimes we need to stop and pay attention to more than just the white dress, the obvious things in life, and see the details.

So let’s hit the refresh button today! It’s time for some encouragement and thankfulness for just the smallest things in life. Have a great day!
