Period Declarative Sentence

I repeat a statement over and over in my life all the time. “Death in me, is life in them.” A statement I make to myself to help me through the hard moments I come in contact with as a minister to teenagers and parents. Sometimes I look up at the board hanging over my desk that has pictures of students who have graduated, gone to college, some have spiritually went south, others have disowned me as a friend, and others I pray for because they need me to, this board reminds me of that statement. “Death in me, is life in them.”

Sometimes I struggle with this statement, because I really deep down want someone to care about me like I care about them. I desire to have a friend that I can talk to, a person who just calls to say they are praying, or a phone call of rich encouragement. When I struggle many times I cry, scream, and say statements like I wish it could all just be different, but then I realize the mission I’m on. It’s not an easy one, it’s long-suffering, it’s life-changing, and it’s worth it all. I make that statement because without the closest friend of all, Jesus Christ, I would not have life!

Being a follower of Christ for me, is not just showing up to church physically on Sunday, for me it’s spiritually a walk with Him everyday. He teaches me everyday, strengthens me everyday, encourages me, and scolds me! (lol) Truth is, without Jesus I would not be who I am today. I have the best person in life to talk to, the best encourager, and the best prayer warrior on my side! God is for me, so who can be against me! I’m preaching to myself, you should try it!
