I’ve never realized until just the other day how many people who go to churches every week do not know the Bible Stories for themselves. Every week in youth group my students ask me some of the craziest questions about the Bible, because honestly they just do not know. So many of us maybe were raised in Sunday Schools growing up, where the story of Noah & the Ark, David & Goliath & Samson & Delilah were taught each week. The generation coming up, does not know the basics of the Bible or the stories of the Bible! Someone seriously asked me the other day, what is the whole story about Jonah and the Ark. I was thinking for real…for real. Yes! It’s for real, we are living in a unknowing society where it is our job as Christians to begin to teach and help the new converts to understand the Word of God!
3 things you can do to help other people with their new walk with Christ!
1. Know it yourself! If you say you are a Christian, then read your bible and pray daily like a real Christian should! Know your stuff backwards and forwards, so when questions are raised you are ready!
2. Ask them questions and help them fill in the blanks! Ask open-ended questions like What has the Lord been showing you this week? Once they begin to answer, listen, and then direct them to scripture passages they can feed off of.
3. Tell them the Stories from the Old Testament! These stories are just as important as the New Testament ones. Why? Because they have so much symbolic meaning toward our lives today. In every story there is a message for the new Christian!
Be obedient to God, and search out His word for yourself! I challenge you today!
