Yesterday I went to visit with a teenager in my youth group who had surgery and will be out the rest of the month. Her situation with her family is a heartbreaker, because her entire family is dealing with major health issues. On my way over I prayed and asked the Lord to help me say the right things to encourage this beautiful young person. So I dropped by Wendys on the way and picked up a Frosty to take to her. I picked me one up too cuz I enjoy Frostys as well. LOL.
I pull into the driveway, and was welcomed by her mom who was very kind and excited for me to be there. I handed over the Frosty and hoped that would be enough to encourage her and help her through some of the pain and emptiness she was feeling. As the conversation began between the young person and her mom, I realized that God had me in the right place at the right time. God needed me to be strong and courageous for them. I was heartbroken as her mom begin to pour out all of the bad things that had happened health wise in their family. I’m now encouraged by the knowing in my Spirit that God wanted me to see and feel their hearts so I could understand how to pray for them.
I’m in tears at this point writing this. I said my goodbyes after I promised to pray for their family and gave hugs to everyone there. I wanted to do more, I wanted to just be able to walk in their house and say “everything is going to be ok, but I knew I couldnt’ do that.” But I knew that God had used me to encourage and strengthen their family someway somehow, even if all I did was bring a Frosty!
You never know what other people are facing in their lives. Don’t go through life missing out on your frosty opportunity. Reach out to others and love them, pray for them, and encourage them to make it through. You may cannot turn water into wine, walk on water, or heal the sick but you can take a Frosty that will lift the Spirits of a heartbroken family that needs a miracle! I believe today is your day to be that Encourager!
-Tears dripping off my chin…
Thank you so much for visiting me Raven. I love you and you are awesome. (: I know that God is going to heal all of my family and we will get through all of this. I am so glad that you came to visit. Oh, and that Frosty was awesome. Thank you for all of the prayers and everything that you have done for me. I will never be able to thank you for all of the encouragement and prayers and thoughts that you have sent towards my family. My sister’s migraine that she has been having since last week went away today. God is a miracle worker and I know that I am going to get through all of the pain that I have been going through. Everything is going to get better. I just know it.
I love you, and thank you for being the best youth pastor EVER! ❤
