Today I want to share with you about the wonderful proposal from the man of my world, Matthew Cannon! I was 23 years old and just graduated from JSU with an Economics Degree. I had been in this relationship with Matt for almost a full seven years! I knew he was the one for me, and I knew that cuz he is the only person I know who calms me down, makes me laugh out loud, and is romantic in a special way not a sick kind of way. lol.
I had went to Ohio to visit with my sister at World Harvest Bible College. I was there just for a couple of days and I was staying in her apartment with her and her roomates. I went to school with her and sat with her and Patrick Allen (her soon-to-be husband at the time, which they had no clue about). I met all her friends, and I was having a great time hanging out with my little sis.
So after school that day my sister precedes to take us all back to her apartment to hang out. We were driving through the parking lot when my sister comes to a stop right next to a pond and fountain thing next to her apartments. I’m thinking why is she driving soo slow and why are we stoping. She then says hey look there is Brandon (a friend of ours) standing out there. I was like hey yeah, that is Brandon, and then I said….HEY, that guy with him from behind looks just like Matt, he has the same ears as Matt. If you only knew my husband you would understand my last statement! I just love his ears.
So we got out of the car and started walking closer to our friend (and the guy who looked like Matt, lol). As we got closer it seemed to get freakier and freakier. He began to look more and more like Matt. All of the sudden this guy who looks like Matt turns around…and a bada boom it was Matt! I was so thrilled but a little weirded out. So he walks up to me and says this “Are you ready?” I was like ready for what? lol. Then he preceded to get down on one knew and ask me to marry him.
I have to say it was the sweetest thing and most romantic thing ever done. No roses,
no weird music, no dancing lol…just are you ready and will you marry me! The best day ever! Matt took a plane ride all by himself from Gadsden, AL to Ohio just to ask a simple question. That made it for me! I knew then he really loved and cared about me! I have the best husband in the world!
So today, don’t settle for second best! Get the real thing! It’s well worth it! If he won’t sail across the ocean for you, hold your hand in public just because, or if he won’t ride an airplane 10 hours to meet you…then you might want to rethink how deep the love goes! Just a thought! Go for the love that it doesn’t matter the countries, states, or emotions he or she has to cross as long as you are the prize at the end that’s all that matters! Love today!
